Web Hosting Cooperative What is a Web Hosting Cooperative? A group of shoe-string budget organisations who need an affordable portal unto the Internet! The Objective of www.NFLDInter.Net is to lease blocks to organisations in Newfoundland & Labrador and cooperatively share the cost among you. I retain a small profit margin for operating expenses. Your membership fee is $50 per year. I started this particular site to help my local community organisations in Conception Bay, Newfoundland to develop a Web Presence. I have already succeeded in helping non-profit groups in Quebec; see www.jtjohnston.net. I'm an economic refugee myself, from Conception Bay North, who turned to Quebec to find a new home - until I retire in 2019. $50 per year? Why so inexpensive? Commercial Web hosting costs too much. Local organisations on shoe-string budgets cannot afford a Web presence - if you have low bandwidth needs, I can help.

Maybe you want your own Web site ... but you just cannot do the technology thing?

I will install WordPress a free, Open Source blogging software with which you can edit and manage your site, with little or no skill. All you have to do is (1) choose a design, (2) type and format your text and (3) add your images.

I can host your Web site, Wikis, online calendars, almost anything you can come up with. I'll install the software for you, show you how it works and train you how to use it.

What do I get out of your membership in this particular cooperative? Number one, even though I live in Quebec, at least i feel like I'm doing something for folks home in Newfoundland & Labrador. Secondly, this is a source of research funding! I'm a college professor and specialise in helping other teachers use  the « New Technologies ». www.jtjohnston.ca is my research project. Your membership in this cooperative funds my professional research in computer assisted language learning. What I learn from you I reinvest into my professional, teachers' Web site: www.jtjohnston.ca. If I spend one hour or 50 hours helping you get going, it is on my dime. My goal is to offer low-cost services and then study how you and your organisation grow.
